Cherokee Powwow

Cultural Presentation

The Southern California Cherokee groups will be holding their first cultural presentation for 2010. COTTA be coming to our area March 5th- 7th for a presentation on the Cherokee language. The order will be as follows:

Friday, March 5th: Tsa-La-Gi LA (6:00- 10:00pm)
Saturday, March 6th: Cherokees of Orange County (10:00am- 2:00pm) & Potluck
Cherokee Community of the Inland Empire (4:00- 8:00pm)
Sunday, March 7th: San Diego Cherokee Community (1:00- 5:00pm)

The presenter for this trip will be Chris Holmes. He is an employee of the COTTA Program and is currently attending Northeastern State University pursuing a degree in Cherokee Education. He is a fluent Cherokee speaker who resides in the Tailholt Community (Welling, Oklahoma) in Cherokee County.

San Diego Cherokee Community and the Ethnic Studies Department of UCSD are hosting the Cherokee Nation history course taught by Julia Coates. This year the classes will be held as follows:

Saturday March 13th 9:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday March 14th 9:00am to 6:00pm

Saturday March 27th 9:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday March 28th 9:00am to 6:00pm
